PEEK is a typical high-performance thermoplastic resin with outstanding performance. When combined with continuous carbon fiber, the performance of the two materials is effectively combined, and the overall performance is even better. Continuous carbon fiber CF/PEEK thermoplastic composite materials have been widely used in aerospace, medical, automotive and other fields due to their excellent performance. They are also the focus of research and attention of major universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises.
Advantages of continuous carbon fiber CF/PEEK composite materials:
1. Good elongation at break and fracture toughness
PEEK, as a representative of high-performance thermoplastic polymers, has a fracture toughness of up to 2.0 KJ/m, which is 20 times that of epoxy resin. 2. Excellent anti-delamination and fatigue resistance PEEK has good impact resistance, and it is one of the best impact resistance among heat-resistant resins. At the same time, PEEK has high rigidity, good dimensional stability, small linear expansion coefficient, and excellent long-term creep resistance and fatigue resistance. 3. Excellent chemical corrosion resistance PEEK has excellent chemical corrosion resistance, and has strong corrosion resistance to acids, alkalis and almost all organic solvents. It is only corroded by halogens and strong acids at high temperatures, and is only soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid at room temperature.
4. Excellent resistance to moisture and heat
PEEKhas low moisture absorption, good resistance to moisture and heat, and can maintain good mechanical properties under high temperature and humidity.
In addition, it has outstanding hydrolysis resistance, low moisture absorption and permeability, and is resistant to steam, water and seawater.
5. Excellent sliding wear and fretting wear
PEEK can maintain high wear resistance and low friction factor at 260℃.
6. Biocompatibility
Studies have shown that short carbon fiber reinforced PEEK implanted in animals as a prosthetic material has low cytotoxicity, meets the cytotoxicity index of medical implant materials, and has good blood compatibility and tissue compatibility. 7. X-ray Transmission PEEK has good transmission performance and does not produce artifacts such as metal implants under X-ray and CT examinations, which is convenient for patients to undergo medical examinations.
